I took it for a smog check one day, and noticed that the battery light was on. The alternator was definitely on my mind once I noticed the warning indicator. A couple days later, the car dies on its own while driving. I replaced the alternator as I was getting the battery recharged at the same time. Once installed, battery light is illuminated and car dies on it's own again. I thought that the auto parts store gave me a crappy alternator, so I replaced it along with a new battery as well. Again, battery light turns on and the '95 Lesabre dies on it's own. I replaced the belt because maybe it was old and it wasn't gripping onto the pulleys causing an improper charge. Nope, it still dies on it's own. I hooked up my DMM and you can literally watch the voltage decrease as the engine idles. I began doing some research and stumbled upon this "fuse link" that is within the battery/alternator/starter circuit. It could've blown itself when the alternator was finally giving up. I read that when replacing an alternator, these "fuse links" have to be replaced as well. I pulled up a wiring schematic via Mitchell, and I can't find this "fuse link" that everybody is talking about. I don't know what color it is, there are no TSBs...and I'm beginning to run out of ideas. I can't put my finger that it may be a fuel issue because why would votalge be decreasing while at idle? Thanks in advance for the help. car insurance. Auto parts : Throttle Cable Bracket Dodge 2005. Throttle Linkage Socket Eagle 2006. Throttle Return Spring Ford 2007. Throttle Rod Bushing Geo 2008. Saab . How to Replace C5 Headlight BulbsThe C5 Corvette was produced from 1997-2004, and was known as the C5 because it was the fifth version of the Corvette. The headlights on these cars are motorized, and use a halogen bulb to project light. When the bulb goes out, you have to replace it, otherwise you risk getting pulled over for missing a light. This bulb is a bit difficult to remove, and it helps to have small hands, but it can be done at home. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Phillips-head screwdriver Replacement headlight bulb Step by Step : 1 Open up the hood. Turn on the headlights, then turn the headlight switch back to the parking position to keep the lights up but the headlights turned off. Remove the black bezel around the headlight using the Phillips-head screwdriver. 2 Position yourself so that you're looking at the profile of the headlight from the fender. Place your hand behind the headlight and reach for the bulb that's closest to you, and turn it counterclockwise to remove it from the headlight. Pull it out of the hole and unplug the wiring from the headlight with your hands. Discard the bulb. 3 Plug the replacement bulb into the headlight harness. Then carefully push it through the hole behind the headlight and install it on the headlight by turning it clockwise. Reinstall the black bezel using the screwdriver.
Saab . How to Replace the Driver Side Headlight Bulbs in a 2001 Honda AccordHeadlights serve several purposes on a vehicle, the two primary ones being safety and improved visibility. If the headlights are not properly functioning, the easiest and cheapest fix is to replace the light bulb. It is also illegal for any of the headlights to be out so replacement is imperative. All models of the 2001 Honda Accord use composite headlight assemblies so bulb replacement is quick and easy. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Screwdriver Replacement headlight bulb Step by Step : 1 Replace the low-beam bulb by removing the two fasteners holding the splash shield then placing the shield to the side. To access the high-beam bulb, remove the air intake cover, located in front of the battery, by removing the two screws holding it in place. 2 Detach the electrical connector from the bulb by pressing down on the release lever at the bottom and pulling the connector outward. Turn the bulb 45 degrees in the socket and pull outward to remove it. 3 Align the new bulb with the socket lugs and insert it into the mounting hole. Rotate the bulb clockwise until it no longer turns (approximately 45 degrees). Reconnect the electrical connector and verify the light works correctly. 4 Replace the air intake cover and the splash shield on the driver's side of the vehicle. Tips & Warnings Halogen bulbs are under pressure and can easily shatter if scratched or dropped. You should always wear eye protection when handling halogen bulbs. Avoid touching the surface of the light bulb with your fingers since oil can cause the bulb to overheat and fail prematurely. If you do touch it, clean the surface with rubbing alcohol. Disconnect the hoses that lead to and from the pump. Consult the sections on hoses and hose clamps earlier in this chapter. If the hose clamps look funky or brittle, replace them with new ones of the gear type shown earlier in Figure 14-8. 5. Remove any brackets or components that are blocking access to the water pump, and unscrew the bolts that hold the water pump hi place. Be sure to lay down everything you've removed in the order in which you removed it, with each part facing the same direction as it was on the car. This way, you can put everything back in reverse order, with no guessing about which end was up or which bolt went where. Chapter 1 has instructions for taking anything apart and getting it back together again. 6. Remove the pump and its gasket. Scrape the spot clean and finish off the job with some sandpaper. Use an adhesive/sealant to attach the new gasket to the water pump. Allow the sealant to dry before installing the pump. Saab . How do you know if your 94 golf needs a new accelerater cable?

Replace the pump, bolts, hoses, fan, and fan belt, and then fill the system with a 50/50 mixture of water and coolant. If the liquid you drained from the system was clean, and you changed the coolant less than a year ago, you can reuse it. If not, save yourself money and labor by flushing the system at the same time, following the instructions earlier in this chapter. 8. Replace the radiator cap and bleed the air out of the system, if necessary. Your owner's manual should tell you whether bleeding a system is necessary, and how to do so. 9. Run the engine while you check for leaks. . Chapter 14: Keeping Your Car from Getting Heartburn 2 t Q Pressure-testing the cooling system If you can't locate the source of a leak and your vehicle is losing liquid from the cooling system on a regular basis, drive to your service station and ask the attendants to test the pressure in your cooling system. They'll probably use a cooling system pressure tester to do so. The tool is inexpensive, and the test involves very little time or labor, so a friendly technician may do the test for nothing. While you're at it, have the technician pressure-test the radiator pressure cap as well. If you have an old vehicle that hasn't had its cooling system serviced or rebuilt in a long time, pressure-testing the system may dislodge the deposits Saab . Adjusting and Replacing Accessory Belts Chapter 3 tells you how to check accessory belts. Whether or not you can adjust or replace a belt yourself depends on the type of belt(s) you have. Serpentine multi-accessory belts On most modern vehicles, a single, long, flat belt called a serpentine multi-accessory drive belt (see Figure 14-10) drives all the engine accessories. This belt winds its way around every accessory pulley, and on the way winds tightly around a "tensioner" pulley that keeps the belt to the correct tension. In cases where it is possible to adjust the tensioner, you usually find something that indicates the correct tension. Figure 14-10: Serpentine multi-accessory drive belt. Part "l: Kee Pin9 Your Car m Good Condition, System by System Figuring out whether a belt is at the right tension isn't easy just by looking at it, but if the belt is loose, you'll hear squeaky noises when you accelerate sharply. (With the hood up and the emergency brake on, have a friend accelerate the engine while you listen. Be sure to keep your hair and clothing away from the belt.) If the belt squeaks, have a professional replace both the belt and the tensioner because, in many cases, radiators and air conditioning condensers may have to be removed to allow access to the belt, and it may be difficult to remove it and insert a new one. Saab . What was the average cost of a car in 1989?
* Other accessory belts If you find that you need to adjust or tighten an accessory belt that drives only one component, follow the instructions in this section. Adjusting accessory belts 1. Determine which belt is loose and what component (alternator, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, or idler pulley) must be loosened to tighten the tension on that belt. 2. Loosen the nuts or bolts that secure the part that the loose belt goes around. Saab . How old do you have to be to be an automobile mechanic?
